The mode was meant as a nod to the series’ legacy of map sharing and custom multiplayer games. SnapMap was a map maker that allowed players to create their own levels and custom game types. DOOM Eternal will not be bringing back the SnapMap feature from the last game.

Marty Stratton, director at id Software ( via PCGamesN), says that the gameplay won’t be the only thing seeing change in this year’s DOOM title. New additions to the Praetor Armor include a shoulder mounted flamethrower and an arm-mounted blade used for the bevy of new Glory Kills in the new game. Additionally, the footage features new demons, weapons, and equipment at the Doom Slayer’s disposal. The gameplay featured at Quakecon 2018 shows off more of the buttery smooth FPS gameplay we’ve come to know and love from the DOOM franchise. With the most satisfying gameplay loop featured in an FPS game in years, fans are hoping Eternal will expand on your options as the Doom Slayer and grant you more mobility in battle. The sequel to 2016’s DOOM reboot is easily one of the most anticipated games of the past couple years ever since its predecessor blew our collective minds. Bethesda and id Software blew the roof off of Quakecon 2018 during their keynote with the first reveal of gameplay footage for DOOM Eternal.
